At Cenovus, the winter holidays shine a light on our year-round culture of care, collaboration and community spirit. Across every region, teams find creative ways to celebrate the festive season while keeping our operations running smoothly. From charity drives and festive bake-offs to simple acts that bring joy to our workspaces, these moments remind us what makes Cenovus special.
During the holidays, we’re especially grateful to our operations staff, the people who keep our facilities operating safely and reliably every single day of the year. Their commitment often means time away from friends and family, but their dedication ensures we continue to deliver the energy that fuels the holiday celebration across the country. We are grateful for their hard work and resilience, no matter the season.

Oil Sands: Santa’s Showdown
At Foster Creek, Christina Lake, and Sunrise, the annual Santa’s Showdown Charity Drive is in full swing. Teams compete for the title of “Jolliest Team” while making a real difference in their communities. Since 2018, Santa’s Showdown has raised over $141,000 for local causes including food banks, crisis centers and youth services. Every contribution — big or small — makes a difference, and Cenovus matches employee donations through our Cenovus Cares employee giving and volunteering platform.

Conventional and Downstream: Rolling up their sleeves
Our teams in Alberta, Ohio and Wisconsin are equally passionate about giving back. Employees have logged hundreds of volunteer hours and contributed thousands of dollars through Cenovus Cares, supporting youth programs, environmental stewardship and Indigenous partnerships.
Volunteers from our Edson office once again rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at the local community kitchen.
Staff from our Lima Refinery took part in a dessert bake-off with proceeds going to the West Ohio Food Bank.
Gingerbread house contests in Calgary are just one example of how our teams embrace the season with creativity and camaraderie. These moments of fun strengthen bonds and showcase the spirit that makes Cenovus a great place to work. From decorating offices to hosting local drives and launching new volunteer opportunities, every location navigates working safely while making the best of the holiday season on-site.
Whether in our oil and natural gas production operations in Canada and the Asia Pacific region, or our upgrading, refining and marketing operations in Canada and the United States, our employees share one common thread: a commitment to community and to each other.
Season of Giving campaign
During this year's campaign, inclusive of Cenovus Cares matching, employees raised over $1.4 million for important causes that matter in our communities. They also contributed more than 16,000 hours of impactful volunteer time and completed over 3,250 acts of kindness across our operations to bring joy to neighbours and communities.
