Sustainability at Cenovus

Sustainability is essential to the way we do business and at Cenovus, our actions are guided by our sustainability policy. It means creating a safe and inclusive workplace, partnering with local and Indigenous communities, and innovating to minimize our impact on the environment. We believe striking the right balance among environmental, economic and social considerations creates long-term value.

We recognize that operating our business sustainably requires transparency with our stakeholders about our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, and we are committed to integrating sustainability considerations into our business decisions to further strengthen our long-term business resilience.

On January 1, 2021 Cenovus Energy acquired Husky Energy. The commitments both companies have made to world-class safety performance and ESG leadership will remain core to the combined company. This includes an ongoing commitment to transparent performance reporting, an ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and a plan to set ambitious new ESG targets for the combined company. Cenovus will undertake a thorough analysis before setting meaningful ESG targets for the combined company. Once that work is complete in 2021 and approved by the Cenovus Board of Directors, the new targets and plans to achieve them will be disclosed.
