Taking action in our communities
In collaboration with six industry partners, Cenovus has played a significant role in the development of a workforce program in the community of Janvier. This program focuses on life and employment skills and works to create opportunities for jobs within the community, and eventually within industry.
Finding the right people to hire sometimes requires going beyond posting a job on the internet or attending a career fair. Our Employment Bridging Internship Program gives us the opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal communities and organizations near our operating areas in northern Alberta to identify internship candidates who are interested in working towards a career in the oil and gas industry. This unique program provides training and paid work opportunities for eligible Aboriginal participants.
Employment Bridging Internship participants receive pre-employment training and then work for Cenovus at either our Foster Creek or Christina Lake oil sands projects with the goal to qualify for full-time employment opportunities at Cenovus. The length of each internship will vary depending on the role requirements. This program offers participants the chance to gain exposure to a variety of occupations such as power engineering, field operations and maintenance trades.
