Steam to oil ratio

On average, it takes about 2.1 barrels of steam to produce one barrel of oil at our oil sands operations – well below the industry average of 3.1. The decrease in 2012 is due to improved reservoir qualities and ongoing optimization to reduce energy use. As our Christina Lake oil sands project has expanded, we've accessed higher quality reservoirs exhibit in a lower SOR. The high quality reservoirs consist of clean sand formations, high oil saturation, and high permeability with few laminations.
