A different oil sands

You may be familiar with images of oil sands mining operations from seeing them on TV, online or in print publications. We’d like to introduce you to a different kind of oil sands – one that uses specialized technology to drill and pump the oil to the surface. The technology we use at our oil sands operations is called steam-assisted gravity drainage or SAGD.

Our Foster Creek oil sands project

Featured in this ad is our Foster Creek oil sands project – the longest running commercial SAGD project in the industry. The oil we can access at Foster Creek using SAGD technology is 450 metres below the surface. Foster Creek has a current capacity of about 150,000 gross barrels of oil per day.
