Click Before You Dig: Putting landowner safety first

Cenovus Energy’s safety commitment extends to our communities, and that includes landowners near where we operate. April is National Safe Digging Month and we are joining the industry-wide chorus in promoting safe excavation practices, encouraging our neighbours to always Call or Click Before You Dig to locate critical underground utility lines.

“We take a lot of precautions on our sites and with our infrastructure to ensure safe excavation practices, but landowners and farmers don’t always have the same awareness of where buried pipelines and utilities are located,” said Jeff Jeworski, Cenovus Senior Vice-President Canadian Thermal & Conventional Heavy Oil Operations.

“To support our neighbours, we are providing resources through the Click Before You Dig program and our staff are available to help ensure safety in their excavation and right-of-way projects this spring.”

Click Before You Dig can be as simple as calling your provincial one-call provider or logging on to www.clickbeforeyoudig.com in Canada, and in the U.S., calling 811 at least two to three business days in advance of any ground disturbance projects.
