We're committed to limiting our impacts on air, land and water resources through innovation and efficiency. But concern for the environment isn't exclusive to any one oil sands producer. The industry as a whole recognizes the need to accelerate the pace of improving its environmental performance. That’s why we've teamed up with 12 other Canadian oil sands producers to form Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA).
The guiding principle for COSIA is that all members will have greater success by collaborating on environmental innovation than by our individual efforts. By pooling our resources, and those of the best minds outside our industry, our objective is to develop and share innovative approaches to improve the oil sands industry’s environmental performance.
To date, COSIA member companies have shared 936 distinct environmental technologies that cost more than $1.33 billion to develop. These numbers are increasing as the alliance matures and expands. Through this sharing of innovation and application of new technologies, we can work with all members to accelerate the pace of environmental performance improvements.
