Wood River refinery

Located in Roxana, Illinois, this refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 306,000 barrels per day of crude oil. It processes crude oils to produce gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, petrochemical feedstocks and asphalt. The coker and refinery expansion project, which will increase crude oil refining capacity, more than double heavy crude oil refining capacity, and increase the clean transportation fuels yield, is expected to come on stream in 2011.

We began construction of the Coker and Refinery Expansion (CORE) project in September of 2008. The project will expand our heavy oil upgrading capacity, increase the production of clean transportation fuels for the U.S. Midwest market including St. Louis and Chicago, and realize cost savings through economies of scale.

CORE project:

  • Expected completion date: 2011
  • Adds 65,000 bbls/d of coking capacity to upgrade growing supplies of heavy crude oil
  • Increases total crude oil refining capacity by 50,000 bbls/d to 356,000 bbls/d
  • Expands heavy crude oil refining capacity to approximately 240,000 bbls/d
  • Increases clean product yield by 10% to approximately 89%

Borger refinery

Located in Borger, Texas, this refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 146,000 barrels per day of crude oil and approximately 45,000 barrels per day of NGLs. It produces gasoline, diesel and jet fuel along with NGLs and solvents. In July 2007, a new coker, with a capacity of approximately 25,000 barrels per day, was brought into service, enabling the refinery to process heavy oil blends.

Coker Project (completed in 2007):

  • Constructed new 25,000 bbls/d coker unit and associated facilities
  • Added approximately 35,000 bbls/d of heavy crude oil refining capacity
