Surveying the public
In late 2011, we engaged an independent research firm, The Praxis Group, to conduct a telephone survey on our behalf. We wanted to determine how Cenovus is perceived among the general public in our Alberta and Saskatchewan operating areas: what we’re doing right and what we need to improve on. As well, we wanted to understand how the oil industry generally - and oil sands in particular - is perceived.
Over 1,200 respondents provided their opinions on a range of topics. Here are some of the questions we asked.

- How do you regard the oil sands development in Alberta?
- How important is oil and gas to you in your everyday life?
- Does Cenovus show concern about people living near its operations?
- Rate your level of agreement with the following statements:

This is the second time Cenovus has engaged in a large-scale survey of the general public. The first, which took place in 2010, polled a random sample of members of the public in five provinces and in our northern Alberta, southern Alberta and southern Saskatchewan operating areas, as well as selected government and community stakeholders.
