Nisku chili challenge raises $10,000 for local food bank
Cenovus's Nisku modular yard became the backdrop for an epic showdown as employees and contractors pitted habanero against jalapeño in the first-ever Cenovus chili cook-off. Fifteen teams of chili aficionados, including John Brannan, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer, and Harbir Chhina, Executive Vice-President, Oil Sands, showed off their talents. The teams also raised $10,000 through entry fees, donations and our company's Matching Gifts program which they chose to donate to the Leduc and District Food Bank Association. After a blind taste testing, an expert panel of judges chose The Pirates of the Chili Bean team as chili champions. With the 2011 event such a success, competitors are already talking about next year's challenge.
