Cenovus recognizes 25 contractors for outstanding safety performance
Working here means working safely
May 2017 – Cenovus’s Health & Safety Stewardship Awards Program ties together two of our core commitments: working safely and strengthening the communities where we live and work. This year, we recognized 25 contractors for demonstrating safety excellence on our worksites.
“The individuals and organizations recognized can take great pride in being acknowledged among the thousands of great contractors that work with us each year,” says Thomas Brown, Director, Health & Safety.
Through this annual awards program, contractors working across our operations are recognized for sharing Cenovus’s commitment to working safely. Award recipients receive $1,000 from Cenovus to give to a charity or non-profit organization that’s important to them.
“This program continues to deliver meaningful results for our contractors and for Cenovus because it helps create safer worksites and builds stronger communities,” says Leanne Courchesne, Group Lead, Community Investment. “Thanks to the outstanding performance of our award recipients, a total of $25,000 has been donated to 23 organizations across Alberta and Saskatchewan.”
Cenovus recognized the recipients in meetings across our field operations, including in Weyburn, Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Bruderheim and southern Alberta. Teams at each site had the opportunity to give the award recipients a letter and plaque to commemorate their achievement.
The program has been in place since Cenovus's inception, with the first event held in Medicine Hat in 2009. Since then, it has grown to include all of Cenovus’s asset locations and, to date, more than $975,000 has been donated to deserving charity and non-profit organizations throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.
